Forrester’s release management survey confirms that IT leaders are frustrated with slow software delivery, including dissatisfaction with the release management process. While Agile speeds software design and development, it doesn’t do much to speed up release and deployment — creating a flash point where frequent releases collide with slower release practices. This is motivating development organizations to work with their peers in operations to streamline release management. They are achieving this by improving prebuild processes, expanding release management throughput, optimizing their release pipelines, designing software for rapid change, and creating common release portals.
