In their recent report, ‘TechRadar™ For I&O Professionals: IT Service Management Processes, Q1 2012 (February 7, 2012)’ a team of Forrester Research, Inc. analysts identified IT Service Management Processes (ITSM) as crucial to making the transition into cloud computing and in the adoption of a best practice model.

Forrester defines ITSM as “a process-based practice with the purpose to align the delivery of IT services with the needs of the enterprise with emphasis of benefits to customers. ITSM requires a paradigm shift from the delivery and management of IT as stacks of individual technologies to a focus on the delivery and management of IT services using best practice process models, such as ITIL, a worldwide recognized best practice for ITSM.” (TechRadar™ For I&O Professionals: IT Service Management Processes, Q1 2012, February 7, 2012, Page 2)

In their report, based on a survey of nearly 500 ITSM professionals, some key benefits were noted as a result of adopting this idea.

  1. Improved Productivity: Standardizing processes allows for predictability and reduces errors. Automated Solutions such as Nolio ASAP encourage standardization and boost productivity to a level that manual processes cannot reach.
  2. Reduced Operational Costs: Automation and Service Management increase productivity while reducing the load on resources. Though an initial investment will be necessary, ITSM and automation have proven to be cost-beneficial.

Forrester specifically cited Nolio as a vendor for release and deployment management.

Nolio’s Application Service Automation solutions enable teams to automate all tasks needed to service applications, while heightening application reliability, eliminating manual errors that cause downtime, and improving operational productivity.

Businesses and customers alike become frustrated when servers are unavailable as a result of application deployment. In providing an application release management system, downtime is greatly reduced if not eliminated all together.
