Salary Survey of Application Release Professionals

Ever wondered what qualifications your colleagues acquired in order to secure their high-paying IT jobs? Curious whether your manager studied diligently for computer science and software engineering degrees – or if he possesses any relevant qualifications at all?

If so, you’re not the only one! Two months ago, a simple question was posed on the popular LinkedIn group .net People. Software Development Specialist Scott was curious how many of his fellow .net People had a degree in computer science or a related field. The discussion prompted a huge and unexpected response; 335 people have already posted their qualifications online and new responses flood in daily.

So why is everybody so interested in this?

One reason, as suggested by Technical Recruiter Anthony Martin, may be that people are wondering whether a degree is needed to succeed in this field at all.

“It’s an interesting question for this field. I read an article a few days ago about the titans of IT entrepreneurship in this country and around the world. It is a laundry list of college drop-outs or never-haves. What IS the general consensus on the need or profitability of a degree in the technology field?” Anthony Martin

Many people are generally curious about their colleagues’ educational achievements, experience and salary – but there are also many practical reasons. By knowing the salary and education standards in the IT field, it is much easier to secure a new job, decide on the training required in order to progress professionally and negotiate salary expectations.

However, LinkedIn is not the only way to obtain an updated picture of standards in the field. We’re compiling a comprehensive report on standards in today’s IT industry. This report will cover standards in salary, education, age and working hours for Application Release Professionals across the globe. Complete this survey and receive a free copy of the full report in December. The survey only takes five minutes to complete and all personal details are kept strictly confidential.
